Lingaraj Temple Bhubaneswar Is Such a Grand Temple

We stayed at good hotel in Odisha which provided excellent facilities and marvelous accommodation to us in this beautiful city. The hotel had well-maintained beautiful rooms.  As you know, travelling with kids requires a lot of preparations and we started the preparations like taking snacks, water, hand towels additional dress for visiting each tourist spot in the city,  the first place that we visited was Lingaraj Temple Bhubaneswar. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is estimated that about 6.000 tourists visit the temple every day.

The temple was quite near to the place where we stayed and we went to the temple at the evening. We bought a plate with flowers, sweets, incense sticks and oil lamps from the nearby shop and then got inside the temple through the main gate at the east. The temple is one of the largest in Orissa and is sprawled on an area of 25,000 square feet. It is believed to have been made in the 7th century and strictly follows the principles of Kalinga school of Art. It is built on the banks of Bindu Saras Lake. The whole structure is enclosed by a tall wall. Inside, I could see many sculptures adorning the walls and there were many beautiful carvings on stone.

We offered our prayers and the plate in front of the Shivalinga in the Sri Mandir. The Shivalinga Lingaraj Temple Bhubaneswar is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas spread across India. The height of the Shivalinga here is about 8 inches and it has a width of 2.5 meters. There were other small shrines too here and after praying at the temple we went out blessed by the all powerful Lord Shiva.

After returning to the room I was happy that I planned a family vacation to an interesting part of India. I also decided to visit forts, monuments and other interesting venues in this spectacular city. As a lover of nature photography, I never forget to take my camera whenever I go. Moreover, I always encourage my friends to visit such places which is the best way to keep them calm and composed.
