Jagannath Temple Ranchi, Jharkhand With Its Comeback Glory
After spending some exciting moments in the Betla National Park, we headed towards the Jagannath temple Ranchi, Jharkhand which was a replica of the Jagannath temple of Puri which was one of the important pilgrimages of India. Images of the temple in Ranchi were so eye catching that one could get ready with its bag packed to start for the journey in a very short period and I was also among them. I was simply amazed to find that the temple was extremely similar to the original version.
The weather was good on that day in Ranchi and our mood got to be as good as the weather. We were missing The temple was located about 10km from the main town at Firayalal chowk, which was small hillock and the temple was on the top of that. There were two routes to be followed by the devotees, one was by climbing a large number of stairs and the other was a vehicle route. We had a wish to climb the stairs, but due to lack of time we took the route of the vehicle. After reaching on the top of the hillock where the temple was located we could see the breathtaking view of the whole city and this was an added reason to visit the sacred place.
We were excited to know from the ‘pandits’ of the Jagannath temple Ranchi, Jharkhand that the auspicious fair during the festival of ‘rathyatra’ was also held there. It was similar to that of Puri’s Jagannath temple in the month of ‘Aashaadha’. Since the temple was collapsed in the year of 1990 on 6th of August, the reconstruction took place by the State Government and the temple came out again with its former glory and the same enthusiasm as it was before. Visiting such a holy place in such a short span of time was a big leap for us and we would always remain touched with the loving memories of the Jagannath temple of Ranchi. Our next destination was the Panchghagh falls and we had to leave the temple early as we had many more places to visit that day.
