Ranchi Lake – Calm, Serene and Natural
I was in Ranchi with my family as I had heard about the rich and immense flora and fauna of the state Jharkhand. The natural resources of Ranchi have always attracted me and therefore I had planned since a long time to go on a visit to Ranchi with my wife and children. Every little thing of Ranchi is a masterpiece is what I felt when I went to the city myself. I visited the Ranchi Lake and found the entire water body as a beautiful serene length of cool water flowing through the heart of the city. The lake provides a unique experience to the visitors and people from the local areas and those visiting Ranchi come here to see it.
The history of the lake dates back to the British regency when it was first excavated in the year 1842 by Colonel Onsely who was a British agent. The lake now enhances the beauty of the city by becoming a treat to the eyes of for the beholders. Also the place serves as an amusement place for the people coming here as one can also do boating and spend a quality time with friends and family. The lake flows exactly opposite to the Ranchi Telephone Exchange Office and hence in the heart of the city.
The location of the Ranchi Lake is perfect as it flows right below the Ranchi Hill. People can enjoy a quality time on the hill top and then come back to enjoy the cool water beneath. On the hill atop, there is a Shiva temple which also gathers much crowd. Therefore the place is a complete package for all those who are in a mood of devotion, calmness and amusement. The banks of the Ranchi Lake in Ranchi are enjoyed as a perfect picnic spot and people, mostly youngsters gather there to hold small parties and picnics. I had a really enjoyable moment around the Ranchi Lake with my wife and kids. We went above the hill and did ‘darshan’ of Lord Shiva and finally came down and did boating in the lake. We stayed there for 3-4 hours and returned back to the hotel with a blissful and contented heart.
